UV + IR Materials
LASEROPTIK stocks a selection of UV- and IR-transmitting substrates for a fast delivery. Because CaF2 has a very broad transmission range, we offer a large number of plane and curved substrates in three different qualities of CaF2 (VUV-CaF2 for 157nm, UV-CaF2for 193nm, 248nm and 308 nm and VIS-IR quality).
Our experience in the production of high power laser optics has shown that only the best materials and polishing techniques result in color center free substrates with highest UV transmission.
The optical quality of the UV substrates is controlled by the following measures:
the surface flatness by Fizeau-Interferometer,
– the transmission in the range 120-250nm by a VUV-spectrophotometer and
– degradation by irradiation of a sample with 5 Joule at 193nm.
For applications with an absorption free range up to 4 μm, Sapphire or undoped YAG is recommended. Both materials are very hard and withstand temperatures up to 1000°C and high pressure.
Sapphire has birefringence and is produced with C-cut (001-orientation) for zero birefringence. Especially for ZnS-coatings, IRG N6 can be used in the same range as IR-Fused Silica.
