offers four classes of optical components with continuously variable characteristics: Variable attenuators:
change of transmission by tilding of edge filters. Gradient output couplers:
change of reflectivity by linear gradient coatings. Gradient beamsplitters:
similar to output couplers, but angle of incidence 45°. Variable reflection filters:
wavelength shift by tilding of negative filters.
Generally one of these filters can replace a whole set of conventional attenuators, beamsplitters, output couplers or band pass filters.
With gradient coatings of shortwave pass, longwave pass, small band and negative filters a broad variety of applications, currently using alternative technology such as neutral density filters, circular wheel attenuators or monochromators can be displaced.
All variable components are only coated with dielectric layers, they are capable of withstanding high laser power.
